A brief rundown of the most dangerous roads in South Florida

South Florida has a higher proportion of traffic accidents compared to the rest of the state. Sunshine State Parkway (Florida Turnpike)

Accommodating as many as 3 million drivers per day, the Turnpike connects Miami with Orlando, two of the most populous cities in the state. Travel the Turnpike earlier in the day to avoid reckless drivers, road debris and sleepy truckers.

I-95

The interstate is popular because it hugs the Eastern shore of Florida from Miami all the way up to the Georgia border. Motorists sometimes lose control of their vehicles due to excessive speed on these long stretches of road.

State Road 907 (Alton Road)

When you are traveling North-South through Miami Beach, go slowly on State Road 907. Miami Beach is most always crawling with pedestrians and bumper-to-bumper traffic. The slightest misstep of inattention or inebriation can result in a deadly accident.

The East-West connection from Miami to Naples is a quick getaway to the Gulf, gators and the Everglades. Sometimes the more rural nature of the drive causes people to nod off or pay less attention to their surroundings.
