Gary B. Englander

Gary B. Englander

Gary B. Englander first started trying cases while still in law school and he’s never stopped.

As a third-year law student at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, Gary was accepted as a certified legal intern at the State Attorney’s Office and gained valuable early experience in the courtroom, including trying cases before juries.

After he got his J.D. in 2010, graduating summa cum laude, he joined the Fort Lauderdale law firm of Conrad & Scherer, where he had worked as a summer intern law clerk during law school to help handle litigation stemming from the million-dollar investment Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Scott Rothstein. After joining the firm as an attorney, he continued to represent defrauded investors in that scheme and also handled complex commercial litigation cases as well as labor and employment matters and professional malpractice cases.

After two years, he joined Anidjar & Levine, a well-known Fort Lauderdale plaintiff’s firm, where he began his focus on personal injury cases. After another two years, he joined the law firm of Thomas & Pearl in Fort Lauderdale as head of litigation. That’s where he met fellow attorney Warren Peebles, and the two ultimately decided to create their own firm, launching Englander Peebles in 2016.

Gary and Warren’s goal was to create a firm with exceptional attention to client service and a selective approach to the cases they would take on.

“We’re not a large firm, so our clients are not just a number. We’re literally available 24 hours a day,” Gary says. “Because we’re a small firm, we can pick and choose what cases we want, and we limit our caseload to a manageable number. When you get a case that’s handled by an attorney, it’s not just pushed off to an assistant.”

Most of his personal injury cases involve trucking accidentsmotor vehicle accidents, and catastrophic injuries throughout all of Florida, resulting in numerous six-figure resolutions.

In large part, Gary says, the firm’s reputation for trying cases will convince lawyers on the other side to make higher offers.

“It doesn’t really matter how large the insurance company is or how large the firm is on the other side, we take them to task every time,” he says. “They know that when we’re involved we’re not just going to roll over. We prepare our cases as if they’re going to go to trial.”

Asked to identify what he likes best about his work, Gary doesn’t hesitate.

“I would say it’s when we’re able to get a successful outcome for a client who really needs it based on what happened to him or her and we’re able to make a positive result out of a negative experience.”
