A woman lost her life in a fatal crash on I-95 in West Palm Beach. A second person suffered injuries in the crash. The incident occurred earlier this week on the morning of Tuesday, July 13.
According to the details shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash on I-95 took place when a woman traveling northbound on the I-95 had some malfunction in her vehicle. This vehicle was identified as a sedan. The vehicle was traveling in the left general purpose lane of the I-95 at the time. As a result of the malfunction, the vehicle became disabled in the lane. It came to rest just north of the 45th Street.
As the vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road, a second vehicle traveling right behind couldn’t slow down in time to avoid a collision. This second vehicle was a pickup truck. The truck crashed into the rear of the stopped sedan at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles came to rest in the left general purpose lane following the crash.
The sheer impact of the collision caused the driver of the sedan to suffer critical injuries. By the time the first responders and paramedics arrived on the scene, she had succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced deceased on the scene of the accident.
FHP identified the deceased sedan driver as a Port St. Lucie woman aged 60. The name of the victim has been withheld and is expected to be revealed once the next-of-kin have been identified.
The truck driver also suffered injuries in the collision although his injuries are reported as minor. The driver was identified as a 48-year-old Boca Raton man.
