One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on I-75 earlier this week. The fatal incident involved a motorcycle and occurred early on the morning of Tuesday, May 8.
According to the details shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist who was killed was traveling along the I-75 at the time of the accident on I-75. He was headed northbound along the exit ramp from the I-75 to the westbound Pembroke Pines Boulevard.
It isn’t clear exactly how the crash occurred but the motorcyclist apparently lost control of his ride and was ejected from the bike. It is possible that he was speeding at the time and failed to negotiate the curve which caused a collision with another object. However, no other vehicle or persons were involved in the incident. The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in the crash.
Following the wreck, Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue personnel and other local agencies responded to the scene of the accident. Once the first responders and paramedics arrived on the crash scene, attempts were made to revive the critically injured motorcyclist. These efforts proved unsuccessful as the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
FHP has withheld the name of the motorcyclist for now. He has only been identified as a Hispanic man aged 41. It is expected that FHP will release the name once the next-of-kin have been identified.
FHP shut down three I-75 lanes as well as the Pines Boulevard exit ramp following the incident. These lanes were finally reopened to traffic a few hours later.
In Fort Lauderdale accidents like these, motorcycle wreck victims or their families can seek compensatory damages when the crash is caused by another driver. A Fort Lauderdale motorcycle accident lawyer can help recover these damages.
