On Behalf of | Apr 8, 2021 | Firm News

A man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in Port Charlotte around noon on Wednesday, March 31. According to the details shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, one of the vehicles involved in the accident was identified as a pickup. The other was a dump truck.

The two vehicles hit each other at the intersection of Gillot Boulevard and David Boulevard. The pickup was traveling westbound along David Boulevard at the time. As the driver of the pickup drew close to the Gillot Boulevard intersection, he had a stop sign. However, the driver didn’t heed the stop sign and continued to drive through the intersection.

The dump truck was traveling southbound along Gillot Boulevard at the time. As the pickup driver failed to stop, it came into a collision with the dump truck. The two vehicles collided at a fairly high rate of speed.

The sheer impact of the collision caused the driver of the pickup to be ejected from the vehicle. He sustained critical injuries in the incident. By the time the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the crash, the driver had succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.

The dump truck drove off the roadway following the collision. It then came to a stop after hitting a wooden utility pole. The driver of the dump truck remained relatively safe and had only minor injuries to report.

FHP has not released the names of either of the two drivers involved in the two-vehicle crash in Port Charlotte. The name of the deceased pickup truck driver is likely to be shared once the next-of-kin have been notified. The dump truck driver has only been identified as a 38-year-old man.
