The driver of a vehicle sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade County on the afternoon of Thursday, April 1. The authorities received reports of the crash at around 4:45 p.m.
According to the details shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling in the area of Southwest 104the Avenue and Eighth Street. He was identified only as a male. The vehicle that the victim was traveling in was headed eastbound at the time. It was identified as a Honda sedan.
Eyewitness reports received by the FHP confirmed that the victim was driving recklessly just before the crash occurred. As he drew close to the Eighth Street, he apparently lost control of the sedan. The vehicle then drove away from the roadway and crashed into a roadside tree at a high rate of speed.
The sheer impact of the collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle. The sedan split into half following the collision. The driver also suffered critical injuries in the accident. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Once the crash was reported, first responders from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reached the scene of the crash. FHP troopers also responded to the crash site. The first responders transported the critically injured driver to the Kendall Regional Medical Center. He remains under treatment at the medical facility.
Following the accident, authorities shut down the stretch of the road adjoining the crash scene. The roadway remained closed for several hours before it was reopened to the traffic.
FHP continues to investigate the single-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade. The focus of the crash is to ascertain the cause of the crash. If alcohol or drugs are found to be contributing factors, the driver may face formal charges. He will then need the legal help of a reliable Miami car accident lawyer.
